What is the best way to attach the PVC patch?
Oct 14 , 2024
There are several effective ways to attach a PVC patch:
Sewing
- Use a heavy-duty needle and strong thread, such as polyester or nylon thread as mentioned earlier. Sew around the edges of the patch for a secure attachment. This method is very durable and ensures the patch stays in place even with regular wear and washing.
- You can do a simple running stitch or a more decorative stitch for added visual interest.
Iron-on Adhesive
- Purchase iron-on adhesive specifically designed for patches. Cut a piece of adhesive slightly smaller than the patch.
- Place the adhesive between the patch and the fabric, with the adhesive side facing the fabric.
- Set your iron to the appropriate temperature for the fabric and adhesive. Gently press the iron on the patch for the recommended amount of time, following the adhesive's instructions. This creates a strong bond between the patch and the fabric. However, this method may not be as durable as sewing over time, especially with heavy use or frequent washing.
Velcro or Hook and Loop Fasteners
- Sew one part of the Velcro to the back of the patch and the corresponding part to the fabric. This allows for easy removal and reattachment of the patch, which can be useful if you want to change the look of your item or wash the fabric separately.
Adhesive Glue
- Use a strong fabric adhesive that is suitable for bonding PVC to fabric. Apply a thin, even layer of glue to the back of the patch and press it firmly onto the fabric. Allow the glue to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions. This method can be a quick fix but may not be as long-lasting as sewing or iron-on adhesive.
